Malaysia outlaws unsuitable names

BBC News - Malaysia outlaws unsuitable names
Malaysian authorities have published a list of undesirable titles to prevent parents giving their children names such as Hitler, smelly dog or 007.

Malaysians, regardless of races or religions, somehow are funny(or silly) enough to name the kids some strange names, like Ah Kow(chinese, means dog), Ah Kua(chinese, means sissy man) and so on, I cant list it out now as I've forgotten anymore examples.

Some Malays not origin from the royal family carries the name Putra(prince) or Putri(princess), which are banned now. According to the royalty's law, only those from the royal family can be named like that.

Actually this has been an old news, this issue was discussed sometime in last year in parliament. It's another funny/interesting facts about Malaysians, I think it's a good idea to write about it sometimes.... though it's not very easy to find a suitable topic to write.

P/S: Friendly advice, dont use the word "kling" infront of Indian mates or they'll think you're disrespectful to them. It's an insult for them.

Monitor Dilemma

My 4 years old Samsung SyncMaster 753DFX is having a little hardware problem now. It cant display color properly. I guess the red pigment component in the monitor is having problem.
Planning to get a substitute for this monitor soon, maybe at the coming PIKOM PCfair?

I'd like to get an LCD monitor, either 17' or 19', depends on my parent's budget. Compare to this older CRT monitor I'm using now, LCD screen is much lighter and not as harmful as CRT monitor. I really need it.

Unforgettable Concert

Like I mentioned in my earlier post, my family went to Shah Alam to watch a concert, featuring Victor Wong(品冠) & Emil Chou(周华健). Heh, father got 5 invitations from the organiser, SP Setia and we're very lucky to get VIP ticks. :D

All of us had a great time, the performance was superb. My first experience listen to 周华健's life performance, one of my all-time-fav chinese singer. 20 years since he began his career, his songs are evergreen.
My parents enjoyed the show as well, while me and sis' went a little wild there, we're exicted!!

Full credit to the organiser SP Setia, a successful housing-development company. The houses they build are masterpieces, if it wasnt financial issue, my father might have bought one house over there, although it's quite far away from the city centre.

We've recorded the video for the concert, I will post it here some time later, need some time to process though...

Some fireworks pics after the concert.... very beautiful.

Something happening.

Sis returned, lots of things going on nowdays. We've to take turns to online because there's some problem to setup a network. So I wont be online so often these few days.

Since they're back here, I guess I've lost some of my communication systems with others out there. Example, no handphone, no MSN, no...... aik just that I felt it's hard to contact others whenever my sis' around. :
Things in the school are going pretty well. So far I think there's not much problem for me in studies. I feel SPM is gonna be easier than I expected. Take it easy~

I've change my mind regarding the NS program. I think I should consider myself as lucky and worthy to be selected to join the program. Only the 'elites' are chosen to join the program, heheh....

Tonight going to watch a concert with them, somewhere at Shah Alam. Might write about it later tonight. It'll gonna be a great night....

Delighted

Last night elder sis came back safe and sound, and of course lots of goodies for me. :P

Today seems to be a little unlucky for me. It rains when I want to goto school and tuition. Oh well, a little rain doesnt affect me that much, somehow I did enjoy walking in the rain. :D

I've recieved my SPM exam timetable. 15 Nov ~ 5 Dec, but actually I only had exam for 11 days(+1 day for my extra Geo). It's shorter than I expected, good.

Again, lots of teachers are absent today. Spent those time revise Phyz & Math. Study these 2 subjects make me dizzy..... couldnt concentrate for too long time.

After school stayback for Geo class. Finally today finished F5 Geo. Now what we're going to do is exercises....

Well, sis're back, reunion at last. Have to spend more time to "mess" with them.

Tomorrow is a little different than usual. Sheez, dental appointment again. I hope I can take off my braces as soon as possible!!!

P/S: Gotta thank sis for the new earphone she bought for me. Havent enjoy listen music in such clear sound for some time alrdy!

Who has been chosen?

Hah, today everyone in F5 are crazy asking each other whether they've been selected for the NS.
There's 2 kind of people when it comes to NS. Some die-hard want to avoid NS but some are desperate to be chosen for NS. It's funny....

Anyway, +Math lesson, learnt Probability Distribution today. It's a rather difficult topic for my understanding, well I guess I really need to work hard on this topic. It's almost the last part of my +Math subject....

Some of the common mathematical diagrams and formulas related to the topic.

Today's chemistry experiment is different than before. This time we're making something useful we can apply in our daily life. Few weeks ago I mentioned about soap, now we're making the real stuff.

My group's experiment has been disastrous for most of the time, but this time we're lucky to finish the experiment "thanks" to the overflowing heating liquid. The soap turn out to be like this....
Lab-made soap

A bad news for myself. My classmate brought her handphone to school today and check the NS list. Unfortunately my name appears to be chosen. Sigh, now I really have to be mentally prepared to recieve the confirmation letter.....

National Service

These few days all my friends are crazy about the National Service. The list for the 4/2007 batch has been released on the official website.
So far I stil have no idea whether the website is reliable enough or not, and I'm doubtful with the computer system the NS using, because the data changes from time to time, everytime I went there I got different results.

They say if you got this message, you're chosen.
Example:
IC Number: 89xxxx-xx-xxxx
Name: XXX XXX XXX
State: WP KL

Unfortunately this is what I get when checking for my IC number.

Sigh, what to do? Now I've to wait for the official letter. If I recieve the letter in this few weeks time, I'm doomed. If not, I'll have 3 months to spare next year...

I've tried to console my friends, saying you're not chosen yet until you recieve the official letter.

A Great Journey

Today I've done something unusual. I walk from my school back to my house, almost 7km distance.

Spent around 1hour 30 minutes to getting there from end to end. It's a good exercise though, I didnt feel tired but I'm wet because of raining.

Maybe this isnt something special for anyone else, but for me it's another interesting experiment.

Hmm.... maybe later I'll post a screenshot from Google Earth to determind the more precise distance that I've covered.

UPDATE:

Distance between school and home.
Exact distance is 6.75km.

Football fever havent ended....

It seems that the football fever has just began within my schoolmates.
Now, more and more boys are driven to play football. More and more guys turn up for our Saturday morning football game. That's a good sign I guess.

More people playing means better game experience, compete with the others to be the best.... etc.

Yeah, I'm still crazy about football. Now I'm training to be one of the feared figure on the field. I can be another person when I'm playing.
I'm a master of tackling, that can hurt alot if the opponent is unlucky.

On the field, what's in my mind is this phrase of words: "I can be your best friend and I can be your worst enemy." Do not mess with me!!

I dont like to boast around but I have to say.... I learn most of the football skills all by my own. It's a suprise that I can achive such level eventhough I use to practise alone and not playing frequently. Perhaps, is the passion of football driven me to become a better player?

I dont really understand some dude out there who cannot accept critics and decided to give up football just because he hates to listen to the bad comments on his skills. We've been trying hard to train him but he's doing the mistakes over and over again. What a fool..... He've bought so many expensive football gears and yet he decided to give up everything after wasted so much investment in footbal. Failure. Sigh....

Football can be another kind of addictive substance. Whether you like it or not, once you've hooked on football, the football fever will never ends....

Sweat....

Few moments ago I just blogged my sis' coming back tonight, well things went just wrong.

She missed her flight back to KL.

Reason? She gave excuses for the miss.
First, the actual departure time is earlier than the time printed on her air ticket.
Second, she's caught in a terrible traffic jam while on her way to the airport.

She called my parents and have to rearrange her flight. If things went smoothly this time, she'll be back this Friday mid-night, 2 days to go.

Some stuff happened today

First of all, happy birthday to a blogger/schoolmate, Val who turn 17 today.

Second, I'm the hat-trick hero of the football game between S3 and S4. Yeah!!
1st goal a left-foot shot from the centre, 2nd goal a great header from a cross, 3rd goal a right foot touch from a low cross. Yes!! (getting crazier playing football nowdays, aiming to score a hat-trick!)

Third, school's monthly test will be postponed for 1 week. The original date set on next Monday, but our school's police cadet are participating a state competition so the admin decided to postpone the exam to the other week.

Forth, my 2nd sis from ShangHai is coming back tonight, mid-night. Things might get a little more interesting when she came back. At least, I can tease her when I'm bored. :P

P/S: This post might be a little bored, so here's an interesting stuff happens today.

Shoe
My shoe, after playing football. Dirth huh? The shoe lace's white color is the original color before the game begins....

Prize + Study + Blog

Morning recieved my prize for getting 3rd place of the typing speed competition I participated last 2 weeks ago. The prize? Here is it...

Optical mouse
A pathetic MiC(made in China) mouse.
I should've got the 2nd prize, which is a multimedia headset...

Today I'm into the 8th chapter of my Add Math. It's a kind of advance probabilities. It uses the formula below...

P(x=r) = nCr * pr * q n-r

At first I've no idea about this, but I think I can do better after some exercises.

I've also learnt a new topic in Chemistry. It's about soap & detergent. Sounds boring? Actually there's some interesting facts about these 2 stuff.
Example, soap is based on natural fat(eg, animal fat/plant oil) while detergent is based on petroleum.

After school session, got appointment with fellow blogger friends Milly & SA. Too bad Val isnt available today. 3 of us had our lunch at Desa Setapak, must thank SA for paying everyone's bill. :P

We all talk mostly about schools, exams, studies, etc... Seriously, it's hard for me to have something incommon to talk to them other then blogs. They're college students while I'm just a secondary student, there's a gap between us.

Anyway, it's still to meet up with friends who I usually "meet" online. See if there's next time.... more people can join in.

Joke of the day

A local newspaper reported a funny inccident hapened to a couple.

They're relaxing in a lake garden and playing with their handphones.
Suddenly, a monkey came out of nowhere snatched their handphones and climb up the the tree. The couple are of course dumbfounded and furious with the monkey, they tried to take back the phone but the monkey is too smart to throw the phone into the lake. What makes the couple even angrier is because the phone is a high-end 3G phone bought not so long ago.

The funniest part is, the couple decided to report this to the police and catch the trouble-maker monkey. The question is, can the couple spot which monkey is the trouble-maker? There's not only one monkey in the park.

Golden Teamgeist

Your Best worldcup experience?
Lots of high quality goals in this World Cup, lots of long range shots, the best of football!

The best match?
Brazil 4-1 Japan. The sambas' are dancing on the field!! Great goal by Ronaldo!

You’re favorite chant?
"Celebrate the day!!", World Cup 2006 theme song sang by Herbert Gronemeyer.

Most beatiful jersey?
The German's away jersey. Unfortunately in this World Cup they didnt wear this kit.

Champion of the hearts?
The Samba, Brazil. The masters of beautiful game.

Most favorite player?
Miroslav Klose - Being admiring him since World Cup 2002. Because of him I train myself to head the ball better.

Ronaldo - One of the best strikers in the history of football. Faced troubles at the earlier stages and manage to score few goals to rewrite the history of football.

Best moment on TV?
First match of the game, Germany VS Costa Rica. Lots of goals scored as I stuck myself with the TV.

Worst moment on TV?
Penalty-shootouts. The usual 90 mins game usually will last until 1am local time but if there's penalties the game will be delayed til 1.40am, have to sacrifice sleeping time.

Did you enjoy it?
At first, yes. But after Brazil had been knock out by France, I've lost interest for the game.
There's lots of ugly scenes in this World Cup, especially the Zidane headbutt.

And now?
I still love the game, good thing is more friends are driven to play football, everyone's enjoying and addicted to the game.
No matter before or after the World Cup, more and more people fall in love with football!!! :D

Friday, unleash the DEVIL!!

Yea!! It's Friday again!! Weekend is just around the corner, it's time to unleash the devil in me!!

As usual, my game is football. Today's game is unusual than before, today we're playing on the field, Form 5s VS Form 3s. Playing with this ball, the Teamgeist replique.
Imagine having a football game under the 1pm hot sun.... it's a very tiring game as everyone get exhausted quickly. My stamina is not that good but I've manage to complete the whole game until the ball was kicked out by some Beckham-wannabe boys.

Although the World Cup is over, but in the school our own Cup is just beginning, more and more students will be playing football.
Tomorrow I've another Saturday morning football game with schoolmates, the game will be joined by some of the schoolmates that rarely kick a ball. Let's see how well they'll perform tomorrow.

Confusion

Today the school has invited a lecturer to give talk about Moral education, a subject I hate.

The lecturer suppose to make the students become more clear how to answer the question, but eventually everyone's confuse. The students and the teachers. What the lecturer told us is almost opposite what the school teacher thought.
While the seminar is still going on, some students consult our Moral teacher, and the answer we got from the teacher is follow the lecturer.
What the crap? Now I'm very blur, I dunno I should follow the teacher's method or follow the lecturer's method. Examples....

  • Sila nyatakan nilai-nilai yang sesuai bagi pernyataan berikut:

    XXX & YYY represents the moral value we should answer.

    Teacher's answer:
    XXX
    YYY

    Lecturer's answer:
    Nilai yang sesuai bagi pernyataan berikut adalah XXX dan YYY

    First confusion. Students dunno which format they will use in the exam. Teacher's answer is simple and the lecturer's answer is a little too much.

  • In the essay part, students are being thought to write the essay in seperated paragraphs for each moral value, but the lecturer suggested write the essay just in 1 paragraph, means we'll have to squeeze everything in just 1 paragraph.
    The school teacher told us to follow what the lecturer says, so we're still confuse whether we'll write in seperated paragraphs or just in a paragraph, one shot write everything.

  • Stupid subjects always have stupid problems to be solved.
    Conclusion, Moral is so stupid to be studied in this way!!

    Today skipped Chemistry lesson to finalize the school magazine stuff. There might be a few problems with the contact sheet, but no big deal. Luckily today's Chemistry class is just discussions and no experiments.

    I feel sleepy today, after having a little ill last night. Maybe the medicine I ate is still affecting me? I look like half-dead at the earlier hours in the school, I end up sleeping in the Physic class.

    Started to feel the pressure for SPM. It's just about 100++ days to go before the exam starts...

    P/S: 2 useful files to study moron, aka Moral. It's a stupid subject but heck, still have to study for the sake of exam.
    Both files are in PDF(Adobe Acrobat) format

    Future Studies

    Today the school's counselling club invited representatives from colleges and universities for an exhibition about further studies for students. It's my last year in the school, I've to make a decision on where I'll be going next year.

    My aim is social science subjects, somewhat related to sociology(社会学). So far, only 2 universities have the course, which is UTAR and Curtin.

    I'm not quite clear with the UTAR options, but at least I'm confident with Curtin.
    The reason why I prefer Curtin is because family supports me to study in Curtin, we've contacts in Miri and Perth, where the 2 campus of Curtin are located.

    If I cant get into Curtin, I might still have chance to study Tourism & Hotel Management at The Mines.
    If that option failed, then I might end up being a F6 student in the same school where I'm studying right now, and have to take the STPM exam for the next year.

    I really have to do well in this studies, because everyone around me is looking foward me and my sisters to be those 'elites'. My sisters are doing well in their studies lately, but not for me.

    Elder sis CLY just graduated from Peking University. She just got a job over there.
    CLY graduation
    2nd sis, CLH's still studying her museumlogy in Fudan University.

    Many ask me whether I'll follow my sisters further my studies at China, I reply then with a "No". I dont really like the environment over there, it's too populated and I just cant really get use to it to be in a 99.99% "chinese land".

    Whatever place I'm considering right now, all of the entry requirement are based on the SPM result. If I want to make it into those colleges or universities, I'll have to work harder from now then...

    SPM Seminar

    SPM's getting closer and closer, so I've decided to take up seminar for few subjects as a revision.

    I've been leaving the tuition centre, Suria Jaya since 2004 when I'm preparing for my PMR exam. I'm currently having my tuition under Suria Jasa, another centre which belongs to the same company, just that the 2nd centre is located closer to my school.

    It's just like 4 years ago, I've met with some old-friends there, and the atmosphere is still the same.

    My watch is "dead" when I was going to the centre, it stops at 3am/pm(not sure) and I've no time to get another watch because there is no spare. I'm not use to it for not wearing a watch. I got a watch on my wrist all the time and here's a proof of it.
    Hand

    Today I had Chemistry and Biology lesson.
    I'm not so happy with the Chem teacher, I think he talk alot of unrelated topics and ignored the main topic we're revising.
    Bio teacher, Dr Haresh whom had been teaching me for this year. I like his teaching though, he's a PhD holder after all....

    What I've learnt today.

    In chemistry, if you've mastered the periodic table of elements, it wont be hard to continue the other topics in chemistry.

    The most important elements are the first 20 elements, from Hydrogen to Calcium. Also, take note of the 3 special groups, the 1st group, alkali metals; the 17th group, halogens; the 18th group, noble gas.

    ~~~~
    In Biology, there's possibilities that mitosis and meiosis might came out. I think these 2 process arent that hard if you really put in effort to read it. I think I'm more than 50% understand the whole process.
    Osmosis topic is also another important part to revise.
    Enzyme, one of the most popular questions out there. Take note of the temperature, pH, concentration of the enzyme. There is a few graphs related to these 3 factors too.
    I guess that's it for now. I'll write more about the revision for next week's lesson, which is Add Math and Physics.
    Enjoyful week
    This week seems to be one of the best week I'd ever had in the school for the past 5 years. I dunno why I had this feeling, everything is just nice, too good to be real.
    One of the main factor is maybe, I have one of the best football game ever during Wed's physical edu lesson.
    Fevernova and Aerow 90.
    Yea, I played football. I've manage to score a hat-trick(3 goals) just in one game. Heh, it's really a pleassure playing good game with bunch of friends who're also crazy about football!
    Talk about football, my friend Chin Wei got himself injured because he said something wrong while steping on a ball. He said, "It's dangerous to play here." and then he tripped himself fall down landing on the ground with his right arm.
    Now he's injured and will be missing in action for 2 weeks.
    His MSN display pic.
    I dunno I should be laughing or what, but this is something unusual happened just like that.
    I enjoyed every lessons I've learnt in this entire week. I can digest everything the teacher said. It's a good sign, I can really fully-concentrate in the class now.
    This is important because I'm having exam soon, concentration in the class is crucial.
    Today, participated the school's typing speed competition. If things went well, I'm on the Top 10 of the list, possibily Top 3, which the prizes are tempting.
    I've lost to my friends Chen Leong. It's just a game, so I dont really bother the result too much. As long as I'm one of the top, I'm satisfied with that. ;)
    Well, there's still sad news when there's good news. My last year's English teacher, Ms Santhi will be leaving the school soon. I heard she's gonna teach in a college or some sort of faculty.
    Last week Ms Lim, last year's form teacher had just resign her job as a teacher, and now it Santhi's turn.
    Sigh... All the good teachers are leaving the school, maybe Mdm Chek PC is right, being a teacher isnt an easy task, it's full of pressure. Rumour says that Mr Morthy, my last year's physical edu teacher are leaving too.
    This weekend going to have seminar for the preparation of SPM, the damned exam. 4 hours of revision.
    It's 2 months to go for the trial exam, and 4 months to go for the real exam.....
    06 July 2006
    World Cup, sigh...
    I'm kinda disappointed with this World Cup.
    My favourite team Brazil has been knock out, oh well. Champions one day would fall, too, like anyone else. No more beautiful football in the tournament.
    The Dutch's out, the so-called European Brazil were given ticket back to Holland by the Portugese. Tough game, another record-breaking action happen in this World Cup with so many cards shown.
    No problem for England being knock out. When Rooney was shown red, I knew the English wouldnt be qualifying the next round. Their penalties are terrible, star players are having lots of pressure and missed the penalty. Lampard, Gerrard.... oh well.
    Germany, their home advantage doesnt help much, as they were destroyed by the Italians. Scored 2 late late goals near the end of extra time, no chance for a Germany blitz.
    Portugal VS France. Possibily the last match for one of the best player in the world, Zidane and Figo. This time Zidane's France advance to the finale of the whole game. Portugal's playing well this time, but too bad they're unlucky this time. Both teams are great in the tournament.
    The final? Italy VS France. Personally I've favouring the French but for some reasons, I felt Italians might lift up the Cup of Life this time.
    Time of My Life
    Back to school after another weekend, was looking foward for the final part of the Trigonometry chapter. :)
    Today the librarians and Designers' club launched their respective campaigns during the assembly, I must say I'm really impress by the librarians' performance, especially their background music. I'm a music freak, of course I'll take notice of the music they played. Nice techno, like that song.
    Well, if it wasnt the principal's "interception" during the assembly, at least I wont felt so annoyed this morning. Ok, so he's having his propaganda tell the students to get more donations for the school jogathon. I dislike the way he speaks, he really need to rephrase everything he said, it's totally not convincing and irritating, in my opinion though.
    A teacher once told me, the principal is a nice guy, but he really need to improve his communication skill, especially addressing the students during assembly. Oh well....
    Add Math lesson, I'm getting on track with the homeworks, thankfully. This topic isnt that hard as what I thought at the beginning, but then I stil have probs in to prove the identities.
    Today Haniza's lesson is a little different than usual. She said it's 2 months to go to our trial exam, so she wants to be serious and want our class to get the best academy award in the Science class. Well, putting up the pressure on us....
    Anyhow, she immediately "switch back" to her normal teaching style when we start the lesson. 2 poor girls from the afternoon session was called into our class because of making noise outside our classroom. Gee.... they've to stand in our class looking at us for 15 mins doing nothing! Haniza's really crazy sometimes, but the most important is we enjoy her teaching than the previous teacher.
    Hmm.... it's coming closer and closer, every month seems to passed so fast.... few weeks later I'll have another monthly exam, and then the beginning of Sept the trial exam.
    Sigh.... I must really work harder from now on!!
    This is just a once in a lifetime experience, if I miss it, I'll regret forever....
    One of the best footballers out there, still going strong and continue to break record!!
    Windows Live Messenger 8.0
    Friends are asking me to install the new Windows Live Messenger, formerly known as MSN Messenger. So decided to try it out.
    Noticed that this new Messenger crashed quite frequently. I dunno is my connection's prob or what, but this thing is not as stable as previous Messenger. Anyway, gonna stick with it from now on.
    I've also installed another plugin/add on for this Messenger Live, the Messenger Plus! Live.
