Back in KL

Just to announce to all that I'm back in KL for the moment, after celebrate the festive season with relatives up north in Kedah.

Will write a proper "report", a blog post on the trip.
Processing pics on the way.

'til then, I'd like to share this, one of my favourite Chinese New Year video.

The Exodus

Am going to travel back to parent's hometown at Kedah tomorrow. Will be taking turn driving as it would be a tiring trip.

So I'm gonna get offline for a few days, and expected to be coming back to KL at Wednesday evening.

'til then, wishes everyone enjoy this hard-earned holiday, stay healthy and had a joyful celebration of Chinese New Year! :D

Chinese New Year Preparation

Today is the 29th, according to the Chinese Lunar calendar, so tomorrow will be the New Year's Eve, everyone's busy rushing back to their hometown to reunite with their families for the annual reunion dinner.

My family doesn't join the rush of exodus like fellow Malaysians do, instead we'll be heading back to Kedah on the very first day of CNY on Monday morning.

Chinese New Year for this year feels kinda different from previous years. Hmm..... I do not really feel the atmosphere of celebration like previous years.

This year's CNY deco at KLCC's atrium.
IMG_0725

To be honest, I noticed since few years ago the celebration feeling is no longer the happy and cheerful feeling like before. Perhaps is because getting older means that I've to help more preparing things as it's my obligation to do so.

CLY came back at a timely matter, she helped a lot in those stuffs, I've to admit I helped a little. CLH won't be joining us this year, too bad. She's gonna spend the CNY in UK, probably with her friends.

Last year CLH's still around for CNY but CLY's absent because she's working. This year is vice versa. CLY's free from her work but CLH still got classes going on.

Year 2007's family pic, the last time all of us are present for CNY.
Picture 076 (Large)

As for tomorrow's reunion meals we'll had one for lunch with our own family, inviting my aunt who's studying not so far away. At night would be going to my paternal relative's house for another round.

So on the 1st day of CNY (Mon) we (me & CLY) will take turns to drive northwards to Kedah. Planned to had our lunch at Ipoh, one of the nice food spots around Malaysia.

Haven't plan anything much what we will do for the 1st and 2nd day of CNY other than travelling, but on the evening of the 2nd day (Tues) we'll be going back to the maternal's side for the annual reunion dinner with the our extended families.
That evening would be a very fruitful as I'd be getting lots of angpows that night.
But I expect this year the "income" will decrease due to the recession which starting to hit the country's economy.

On the 3rd day (Wed) of CNY we'll be travelling back to KL. Haven't decided what time to start travel but I can somewhat predict that will reach home after dinner.

Thean Hou Temple lanterns, took this during last year.
IMG_1547

I had Thursday to Sunday 4 days free to do my stuff. Planned to go KLCC again to hunt for something before Sat, as the offer ends on the 31st of Jan. Maybe going there with Ben aka 3T, who's leaving for Aus like 2 weeks from now.

Today after a very satisfying "bak kut teh" dinner headed to Jusco to do some final round of shopping. It was crowded, the shopping mall is having mid-night sale up to 12am.

Discovered that Speedy Video had shifted their shop to the floor above, noticed some new stocks of CDs they're having there. Was hesitating whether I should get a Kenny G 3 CDs or Westlife The Greatest Hits at the same price RM 30, I ended up with Westlife since the Kenny G album is MIC (made in China), am doubtful with the quality.

Westlife Unbreakable Vol 1 The Greatest Hits

I kinda like Westlife's style although they're being critic as only doing cover versions. Nevertheless, one of the very few bands that I listen besides Blue. Was mainly influenced by their songs during my late-primaries and early-secondaries.

We also discovered something today, the wonderful donuts.

Big Apple Donuts

I've read lots of reviews bout the donuts, whether is it by J.Co or Big Apple, and I've yet to sample one until today. Big Apple opened a new outlet here at the lot where Speedy Video used to occupied. Business is very good, there're people queueing up just to get these donuts.

At first we're sceptical at the price of it, so we just bought a half dozen (cost RM 11.50) to try it. The donuts are very good, to our surprise. Pretty soon the 6 pieces of donuts are consumed and being digested by 3 of us (mother doesn't eat these stuffs). Next time we're going to get a dozen of 'em!

Well that's pretty much what I want to write for today. I noticed lack of my life's update here so decided to write this kinda long post not just to entertain blog readers, but also as a "diary" post for future reference, if needed.

Hmm.... this year would be the last year I celebrate here, as next year I will be celebrating it outside Malaysia.

Anyway, wishes everyone a Happy Chinese New Year before it's too late! :D

Brief Review of MylarOne Bijou

OK so this post is about the initial reviews of my near IEM earphone the CrossRoads MylarOne Bijou.

Crossroads MylarOne Bijou

First impression freshly out from the box, the sound signature is sort of messed up, bass is muddy, treble is freakin' sharp and the middle soundstage sounds hollow.

The initial sound reminds me of the first time when I just tested my Sonic Gear EarPump. I hated it (EarPump) initially, but after my EP-50 went busted I've no choice but to use it. Thre more I use it, the better it becomes.
I hope this is the same case for this MylarOne Bijou too.

It is expected, as earphones do not perform at their best initially, so that's why need some time to burn-in.

Yesterday I've tried to compare the earphones I had, namely the Sonic Gear EarPump, Creative EP-630 and the new MylarOne Bijou.
In-Ear Monitors

I only tried with a song as I'm more familiar with the tune and the sound signature. The song I tested is Kitaro's "Matsuri" Live version. The intro itself gives the cue on how the earphone handles the bass.

"Matsuri" starts with a deep and strong bass, which I used that part to determine the bass capability of the earphone. I'm not really a basshead but I do appreciate good handling of bass, especially in techno or electronica songs.

Until now I've burned-in close to 8 hours already, can hear slight improvement in the sound. Still can't have my final say yet, so have to wait 2 weeks later for full review....

New Toy

Crossroads MylarOne Bijou....
Crossroads MylarOne Bijou

Still burning-in, so far the sound is not as good as Creative EP-630 or Sonic Gear EarPump. But it is possible to outshine these 2 formers when it completed the 100 hours of burning-in.

So far burned like 4 hours, still got 96 hours more to go....

Will post up the review probably 2 weeks from now, when I can hear the effect after burning-in.

On the other hand, found this very detail blog bout in-ear monitor (IEM) earphones written by a fellow forumer ClieOS.
Do check out his post introducing IEM, some guides, facts and info for everyone to know bout IEMs.

The Brain Operating System

Now this is something that I thought might be interesting to write it here.

You see, "computer" in Chinese is written as "电脑", which literally means "electrical brain". Computer functions almost like a brain (albeit limited in some sectors) so it is OK to compare a brain to a computer.

Brain functions just like a computer like I said, so you must have an Operating System (OS) installed before that. Luckily for us, it comes together when you're delivered to the world.

Our brain processes all sorts of data and information since the day we're born. Have you ever thought of this, our brain response to the information and memories in a certain language?

Maybe with my brief examples below you may get the idea what am I trying to say here.

The first language installed into my brain's OS would be Chinese Mandarin, as it comes naturally since I was born in a Chinese family, and raised in a Chinese background. Most of the thoughts that runs through my mind is processed in Chinese.

Sometime later when I'm a little older, I get another language pack installed into the OS, English that is. I would say this language pack is a very important to the brain/computer as I can run through tasks in both Chinese and English fluently and smoothly.

It took sometime before the English OS to get through though, as it started rather slowly due to the fact that I just read, sometimes write, and seldom speak of the language.

It wasn't until sometime in 2004 or 2005 when I had this language pack updated in the OS and to run seamlessly since then.

The 3rd OS language pack "installed" is Bahasa Melayu, the Malay language. For now I only use it in daily conversation among Malaysians, and never really bother writing it. Occasionally I still read Malay-based articles from the newspapers or online articles.

I only use this OS when I need to engage in Malay language. Had forgotten some words now and it would took some time for me to squeeze out an article in 100% Malay.

Kinda ironic that someone from the independent school (heavily Chinese-based) can write better Malay than me (whom graduated from a national-type school).

Now I'm in the process of installing the 4th language pack, Japanese.

Still relatively new in this language, slowly moving in for better understandings & functionality. Just started about 2 months and I still got years to go before I can master it like the other 3 languages above.

So far from my experience, learning Japanese is like learning an alternative dialect of Chinese. Many words are the same, and the pronunciations and meanings are quite similar as well. I can't say it's totally the same or else it wouldn't be called as Japanese, instead it would be part of Chinese as well.

The Japanese language loaned the wording system from China long long ago, a dozen of centuries ago I suppose (wild guess)? After so many years the Chinese letters, known as kanji in Japanese, had evolved into slightly different form from the original Chinese origin.

The modifications may be visible and some may not, but anyhow there shouldn't be a problem to use the Chinese origin characters into the Japanese versions. Just that, there're a few exceptional words which only exist in the Japanese's context.

Example: 龙 (Simplified Chinese), 龍 (Traditional Chinese) & 竜 (Japanese).
The word for "dragon", which has 3 existing variations.

Just a little 2 cents of me for what I look upon the language packs. I do not rule out that I might be picking up the 5th language pack, but that would be some years later, as learning 2 different languages at the same time can overload and burst the system, heh.

Might be interested in Spanish?

Speeding at Night

Last night about 11pm drove to KLIA to fetch CLY back. Since father still can't see well at night so as the other driver in the family I've to drive.

Good thing bout driving at 11pm of Sunday is that not many cars on the road. Was relatively easy drive for 90% of the entire journey.

Used the KL-Putrajaya Highway, which this time I tried to hit the highway near Sungai Besi, just after the airport. It should be the Salak Selatan exit if not mistaken. Managed to save a round of toll if driven up from Jalan Tun Razak exit.

Driving on the KL-Putrajaya Highway is a breeze, and the uphill and downhill ride is fun, which I called it "roller coaster ride". Speeding can be fun as the road is very straightforward and mostly relatively less cars.

I prefer to use this route if I'm going to KLIA, though there are some other roads that leads to the same destination as well, no need to pay the toll, but longer travel distance or time.

Usually it took 1 hour from my house to KLIA. When my father drove, it usually is like ~10 mins faster than that time.

On the way back is much faster, as I find that I prefer to speed up more on the way back rather than the coming direction because most of the time I've to be careful with the trucks that's moving towards the airport's direction.

Last night I clocked ~50 mins from KLIA back home, which is faster than previously. Top speed I manage to hit is 140km/h. Never dare to go more than that for now. It's not that I simply want to hit to such high speed, just that the car naturally accelerates when there's nothing blocking in front.

The Perdana V6 I'm driving is the best I drove so far. Previously driven Wira & Kancil, which obviously, cannot be compared to Perdana. I still have yet to try some better cars, say, Toyota or Honda, or if better, some premium German cars (Mercedes or BMW). :P

This CNY I'll be driving back to hometown in Kedah, but luckily CLY can drive as well, so we can switch over when one's fatigued.

Japanese Language....

So it's been a month since I started the class, the outcome has been promising.

Started to be able to speak a little more confident as the glossary builds up. It's kinda frustrating sometimes that when you wanted to express something but you dunno the word to use for it, thus stuck in the mid of communicating.

Talk about that, one have to be careful when speaking the language because you speak differently to different audience.
For formal-speaking, mostly for the elders, tutors, higher-ranked people or so on, you use the polite form.
If speaking among peers, you use the plain form, which is shorter than the polite form.

It's consider rude if you speak in plain form to the elders. This maybe can be compensated if you're a foreigners studying the language, but better avoid such problem if possible.
At the same time, it would be awkward if you speak in polite form with your friends. Though it is OK, but people still prefer plain form on casual occasions.

The process of learning the language can be very funny sometimes. Had a good laugh for those examples quoted by the classmates. One of the most memorable one would be the conversation from yesterday:

Sensei: "Give example of extraordinary or special thing that you have done, ate or saw etc."
Classmate: "I saw tsunami before."
Sensei: O_o "Tsunami?!? Where did you saw it?"
Classmate: "From TV."
Everyone: *sweats and laughed out loud.*

Laughing all the way in the class is a positive sign, as everyone's enjoying the process of learning. A few jokes are always welcomed as it will ease off the boring feeling.

Seems like some of my classmate dislike the other teacher Mr Oda. For them, he sounds like the history teacher back in school, but I find him a charming character and of course a dedicated teacher as well.

I think he has been quite patient with us, though I'm a little doubtful if his temper would went over his tolerance if some of the classmates keep irritating him in the class by not paying attention.

He teaches us more on the cultural side of Japanese, a few examples of what words we would use in certain circumstances etc. I enjoy the video he showed us on the daily conversation between Japanese and a Brazilian named Santos, teaching what we should and we should not do when engaging with Japanese.

Ms Komatsubara would be going back to Japan on early Feb I heard, so we'll have another teacher to take over the class. Also a Japanese, hopefully she'll be as nice as Ms Komatsubara.

That's all for now, catchin' up with it..... :)

Hitting the Jackpot

Last week I wrote an ad for them, and few days later the mug was delivered from a courier.
It's really nice, it meant a lot to me, especially the KL skyline of the "Eye on Malaysia", though it's now dismantled & shifted to Melaka.

#5 Gundam 00 OST 3.
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 OST 3

Just found out this album today, it's like a few weeks late from the release date. Most of my friends got it already, seems that I'm being left out this time lol.
But nevermind, at least now it's being loaded. Talk about masterpiece by Kawai Kenji!
I'll definitely get the original CD when I'm there.... real good stuff it is.

#6 Gift from sis.
Sis CLY is coming back from China to celebrate Chinese New Year, and I think she's bringing back something for me as well. Still not sure what is it' will see it when she returns this Sunday. :)
If it's really and iPod Nano, I'll be extremely happy. Else, I'm still happy with what she'll be getting for me. :D

That's it for now. Am very happy with my current "materialised" life. I'm a happy guy now, really cant ask for anything better, maybe in few months time, or a few years. Who knows?

It is good to be happy in life, have something positive to look forward upon. :D

Strategies to help you survive student life

Strategies to help you survive student life

Hello people. I’m Relax from The Wise Curve. Thanks to CLF for hosting my blog post on PianoForte today. We are net friends who share similar music interest. Yanni, Kitaro, and Sarah Brightman are our favourite music artists. I feel honoured to do guest blogging with him. :-)

I was a successful student who scored straight A’s for SPM and A-Level Edexel. I’m a firm believer of “study smart, not study hard”. Today I’ll share with you some of the secret to my study success. Hopefully it’ll help you in your study. Never know you might become a star student at your school!

Here are some tips to help you survive school life and pass exam:

Don’t just study headlong without a system. Create methods to study efficiently to save time and energy. For example, you can organize knowledge into content mapping or database system, so that you can cover everything in a subject and remember facts well. Content Database Mapping (CDM) is a study system that I find effective.

Your teacher is paid to pass knowledge to you. But that doesn’t guarantee that she has the right skills to teach properly. Sometimes you get a nasty teacher from hell to demoralize you. Even if your teacher is good, what if she takes 6 months leave and let you face your final exam alone?

Don’t ever depend too much on your teacher. Develop your own ability to find knowledge and study on your own. There are alternatives to your teacher, such as tuition teacher, internet, books, and seniors.

Get to know more people. Your social network is valuable in your study. It’s a good idea to have more friends because they can help you in many ways, such as giving you exam tips, letting you copy their homework and class notes, recommend you good tuition teachers and books, teaching you difficult subjects, and many more. Each person has her own strong points so it’s best to get to know as many people as possible to gain the advantage of people’s strength.

Even if a person has nothing to do with your study, such as the canteen uncle, you still have to be nice to him. You never know his brother might be your future boss.

It’s important to keep high spirit to maintain your study momentum otherwise your study will go down the drain eventually. Severe lack of motivation may lead to failing in exam and drop out. You don’t want that to happen.

Self motivation can be learned and there are many ways to do so. Exploit reward and punishment mechanism to push you forward. Do well in small tests to gain the mood and momentum. Accept healthy competition to improve yourself. Eventually, you will become super confident like a raging bull.

Plan your study well. Studying without planning is like travelling without a map. You are not sure of your direction and can get lost easily. Plan your study early in your semester so that you don’t need to rush in last minute. Plan your daily activities so that you won’t waste too much time or procrastinate. If you are a well organized planner, your productivity will be high and your study will run smoothly like a sailing ship.

I hope these tips will help you do well in exam and live a happy student life!

Dengue Fever Remedy

I would like to share this interesting discovery from a classmate's son who has just recovered from dengue fever. Apparently, his son was in the critical stage at the ICU when his blood platelet count drops to 15 after 15 liters of blood transfusion.

His father was so worried that he seeks another friend's recommendation and his son was saved. He confessed to me that he gave his son raw juice of the papaya leaves. From a platelet count of 45 after 20 liters of blood transfusion, and after drinking the raw papaya leaf juice, his platelet count jumps instantly to 135. Even the doctors and nurses were surprised. After the second day he was discharged. So he asked me to pass this good news around.

Accordingly it is raw papaya leaves, 2pcs just cleaned and pound and squeeze with filter cloth. You will only get one tablespoon per leaf. So two tablespoon per serving once a day. Do not boil or cook or rinse with hot water, it will loose its strength. Only the leafy part and no stem or sap. It is very bitter and you have to swallow it like "Won Low Kat". But it works.

*Papaya Juice - Cure for Dengue*

You may have heard this elsewhere but if not I am glad to inform you that papaya juice is a natural cure for dengue fever. As dengue fever is rampant now, I think it's good to share this with all.

A friend of mine had dengue last year. It was a very serious situation for her as her platelet count had dropped to 28,000 after 3 days in hospital and water has started to fill up her lung. She had difficulty in breathing. She was only 32-year old. Doctor says there's no cure for dengue. We just have to wait for her body immune system to build up resistance against dengue and fight its own battle. She already had 2 blood transfusion and all of us were praying very hard as her platelet continued to drop since the first day she was admitted.

Fortunately her mother-in-law heard that papaya juice would help to reduce the fever and got some papaya leaves, pounded them and squeeze the juice out for her. The next day, her platelet count started to increase, her fever subside. We continued to feed her with papaya juice and she recovered after 3 days!!!

Amazing but it's true. It's believed one's body would be overheated when one is down with dengue and that also caused the patient to have fever papaya juice has cooling effect. Thus, it helps to reduce the level of heat in one's body, thus the fever will go away. I found that it's also good when one is having sore throat or suffering from heat.

Please spread the news about this as lately there are many dengue cases. It's great if such natural cure could help to ease the sufferings of dengue patients.

Furthermore it's so easily available.
Blend them, squeeze the juice, drink immediately! It's simple and miraculously effective!!

P/S: Got this from forwarded mail. Dengue fever is quite a problem for those living in tropical countries where the mosquitoes are abundant. In case someone you know unfortunately was infected by this disease, papaya may be the answer for the cure. :)

Lengar's Tag

Directions : Once you’ve been tagged, you have to write a post with 10 random things, habits or goals about you. At the end, choose 3 people to be tagged, listing their names and why you chose them. Don’t forget to leave a comment (“You’re tagged!”), and to read your blog, you can’t tag a person who tagged you. Since you can’t tag me, let me know when you’ve posted your blog, so I can see your weirdness.

1. First of all, I'm Internet-addict, have to spend hours sitting in front of the computer everyday!
2. Music is a big part of my life, especially instrumental and orchestral, and sometimes alternative genres as well.
3. My brain is currently working on 2 major language operating systems, which are Chinese & English.
Currently installing a 3rd language into the OS. :)
4. I would rather spend money on audio gears and CDs instead of buying cloths or go clubbing.
I do however, treat myself a good meal once in awhile.
5. Been using computer since the MS-DOS era. You can read games that I grew up with here.
6. I would say for now the best parts of my life would be college & secondary school life.
Future can be uncertain but I think it'll work out well for me, just like those days. :)
7. I like almost any kind of food, except those internal organs like heart, liver or such. Fish roe (egg) is a big no no!
8. Ironically, I can accept the fish roe found on sushi, such as ebikko & ikura.

9. Still single.
10. Leaving by early April, with mixed feelings. Anyhow I'd be experiencing lots of different stuffs there. :)

Who I'll be tagging?
No idea whom I'd like to tag lol. Either they've done it or the blog has been inactive for sometime. Feel free to do it if you like. :)

P/S: I've edited the rules a little from the original one. :P

Yellow Magic Orchestra

Yesterday while I roaming wildly, I somewhat stumbled on Ryuichi Sakamoto's Wikipedia page, and leads me to a very interesting band which pioneers electronic music.

Yellow Magic Orchestra (YMO) is a Japanese techno band consist of the trio: Haruomi Hosono (bass), Yukihiro Takahashi (drums and vocals) and Ryuichi Sakamoto (keyboards). The band is formed in the late 70's.

Their debut song "Rydeen" would be the band's signature song for a very long time.
Here's the music video which dated back in 1979, a time where synthesizers aren't commonly used in music industry.

Consider the this video was made in 1979, it must be very good at that time's standard as I noticed such elements only being introduced into the Western films in early or mid 80's (obviously I haven't born at that time). YMO influenced many around the world to develop further into electronica music.

You might think that this song and MV is ridiculous, I do when I first watch it. But when I compare it to the later 2007 remake, I started to realised how great their composition can be.

This beer ads hinted the band's return after the band members went into their separate solo career in the mid 80's.

Well, they're no longer the black-haired guys you see in the first video, they've aged.

But their silver hair doesn't stop them from keep on performing the music.

Sometime in 2007 the band held a reunion concert with the new remake of "Rydeen", renaming it "Rydeen 79/07" which signifies the band's longevity since forming it in 1979.

If you don't like the original 1979 version, you might try this 2007 version, which I'm currently hooked up with it.

Although it's the same composition, but you can hear the significant change in style, from techno pop to digitized instrumental, which I would call it. I do appreciate their more direct approach on the instruments as previously they rely quite heavily from synthesizers.

Below is an interview of the band conducted by Last.fm. There's subtitle in case you dunno the language they're speaking.

I find it quite amusing, especially their comments on visual kei band. According to Sakamoto, "dai kirai desu". Seems like the band shares the same feeling of disliking heavy metal as well, me too, heh. And not to mention, Sakomoto speaks quite fluent English!

My only understanding of the band members are solely on Ryuichi Sakamoto, as I'm yet to know more bout the other two for now.

I'm not say a big fan of electronic music, but I do like a few pieces from it. Techno or trance songs are something I'd listen if I need some "kick" or stimulant or catalyst etc.... (whatever you name it) to "lift" myself up.

Sometimes instrumental or orchestral may be too soft to achieve that kind of effect techno or trance does, and it's all depending on my mood and location too.

You can't expect me to enjoy a soft piece of piano solo music while commuting in the LRT, do you? (Unless I've a very powerful noise-isolation or noise-cancelling headgear, which I don't.)

Introducing a little different taste of music here. If you like it, then consider lucky as good stuffs are not easy to came across that often, especially looking at silver-haired folks playing techno music. :)

RSS feed overloaded

Just one day after refreshing all the feeds, now I got close to 200 to slowly go through...

Nowadays I spent most of my online time on reading RSS feeds, via Google Reader which is integrated into my iGoogle homepage.

The feeds went bursting after I subscribed a few Japanese-based news portals, which keeps me loaded with lots of information about there.

Besides, it's also the tool I used to track people's blogs around, especially friends'.

If you don't really have time to sit down and surf the blogs, RSS feed can be very useful to help you keep track of blogs, some which you don't wanna miss a single post due to it's "addictiveness".

Hmm.... I wonder tomorrow how many new feeds I'll be having then.... Of course, I didn't have to read all, just pick those that I'm interested only!

Although having the most gossips around footballing world, David is still a role model for many, not just simply an idol for the fans. His professionalism and personality inspires many youngsters to keep on playing the game and train hard hoping one day to be able to play for the world.

Well, at least he got the stuff under his sleeve, not just posing around for the flashlights. If he keep up his training and gameplay, he can probably be drafted into England's World Cup 2010 squad.

Wish you the best for your career, David. :)

Audio Technica ATH-M50

So finally got this "poison" today, as much anticipated for this while.

Dealed with Akabane at Ampang Park station's platform. Chatted abit bout these headgear stuffs. Oh boy, he's the pro in audiophile stuffs. He told me bout modding the headphones, amplifier stuffs, etc. He even consider to build an audio setup which is similar to the legendary Sennheiser Orpheus.

At this moment my budget wouldn't allow me to get anymore audio stuffs for now, except a few CDs if I came across it. Amplifier is out of my list, for now.

So let's have a look at this ATH-M50...

The box, nothing fancy bout it, but do not underestimate the stuff that it holds.

Comparison with ATH-M30. Both looks similar as they're from the same "family". However, performance-wise there's a gap between both models.

Unlike M30, the M50 can be folded up for portability, which is one of the reason why I wanna get it.

End of the pictures. Now let's test this thing's performance.

I've read positive reviews of this headphone so I had high expectations on it. Safe to be said, this stuff is as good as they reviewed.

M50 feels more comfortable than M30 the first time when I put it up. M30 seems like squeezing my head, while M50 doesn't really have such issue. It sits nicely on top of my head.

I plugged in both M30 & M50 onto my laptop and play the usual songs I listen to. Immediately I can hear the difference between both units.

M50 sounds louder than M30 at the same volume setting. Must be something to do with the driver's unit. According to Akabane, the impedance & sensitivity plays a role in this, but I'm not quite sure which figure affect this the most.

Another notable improvement is the bass. I'm not a basshead, but I do appreciate the clear bass produced by M50. I tried to sample it with one of the songs' intro, which is quite bassy. M30's bass sounds much softer, while M50's bass is much "exciting", more punchy.
It's hard to describe the sensation, only when you try it you'll know how it's feel like. :D

Using the ATH-M50, holding the M30.

M50 still got a bright potential to improve it's scores. It's just barely few hours of burning-in process, and it sounds better than the M30 already. I wonder how it'll sounds after 100 hours of burning-in? Monstrous? Hahah....

But of course, looking at the cost, the performance of M50 justifies it's pricetag. This would be the 2nd most expensive purchase I ever made so far by my own money (most expensive would be the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic).

From this review you can see that M30 is inferior towards M50, but that doesn't mean M30 is not a bad headphone.
Before I get hold of the M50, M30 is the best headphone I had at the moment. It definitely beats all the ordinary Philips headphones I used so far. The previous Philips SHP2000 can't really compete with Audio Techinca headphone!

So what's next for me? A wooden headphone? :P

Next level "poison", ATH-W5000. Cost: MYR 5,000.

Or perhaps ATH-ESW10?

CLY said she might get me an iPod Nano, but I didn't put much hope on it. ^_^"
If she kept the promise, then I'll be very, very happy guy. :D
