Decline

Lack of updates lately, I can only apologize for those who're keen enough to follow this blog.

I'm back to work lately, 10am to 5pm weekdays. When I get back home I'm dreadfully tired, sitting in front of the computer doesn't appeal to me anymore because for the whole 7 hours of working I'm staring at the monitor, working my fingers on the keyboard, virtually non-stop (though I did stop say 5 or 10 mins to walk a bit or visit the loo).

Days are pretty much alive as I'm meeting with lots of friends again during this holiday interval. Today I just bump into my National Service roommate since the programme ended months ago. My bad, I havent keep in touch with much of them, still it's happy to meet with them again.

Tomorrow, going up to Genting to watch Kitaro's concert. Sun Hua & Kai Heng will tag along me. I hope things will work out nicely 'til the end eh?

Saturday afternoon, going to Steven's Corner meet up with old friends from the primary, then later at night head back to college to enjoy "Encore!", a college-based entertainment show, yea, sort of like that.

Terminally ill computer

Got my PC back today, apparently it's the power supply problem as I suspected. The sudden electrical disconnection blew the power off, damaged a little part of motherboard as well. Luckily I only need to change the power supply to get things fixed.

The tech guy suggest me to change the chasis too as it comes with a power supply. If I get the original kind, so call "mini power supply", it'll cost twice the price of the whole chasis, including the bulkier power supply. Eventually it cost me RM 100 for everything.

The tech guy hinted me it is about time to change the com, because further repair might cost more than that. In other words, it's better for me to replace this 5 years old desktop computer.

So far I'm eying on HP Pavilion dv2600, which looks good. I've spoken with my parents bout this, but they havent give me an answer yet. I better do some research on the laptops first, because the price plays a big role whether my parents will agree getting me the laptop or not.

[UPDATE]

Today is 27 Nov, one day after getting back this sick computer. Something wrong with the sound output again, so another trip down to the tech shop to get it inspected. Something's wrong within the motherboard. I has no problem with input from mic, no problem playing the sound, just that I cant listen anything from my headphone. Same goes to a speaker I tested.

The tech guy is almost giving up to solve this issue as we tried adding a sound card. Eventually I turn up with a USB sound card, which works. My sis' laptop have this similar problem dealing with sound card so yea, USB is another genius solution for computer problem. Killed all the papers in my wallet though.

I've spoken with my parents bout getting a new laptop. They started to understand how badly I want a new computer, and somewhat sounds agree to get me one.
For now I've to search for the best replacement for this computer.

So far I'm thinking of HP Pavilion dv2600, Acer Aspire 4920G-301G20 and Dell Inspiron 1520. I'm thinking of Toshiba too, but the price tag immediately turn me away.
1st choice is still the Pavilion dv2600, but if it's too expensive that I can afford, maybe Acer or Dell. Although Acer and Dell are famous brands, but I'm skeptical getting them. Comparing the performance-to-cost ratio, Dell Inspiron 1520 stands out from the rest. (I haven't ask about the HP's price yet).

Thank GOD I've manged to backup most of the important files in the com, got to thanks sis CLH leaving her external HDD with me, hah! No worries with backup now! :D

Main Computer is DEAD, again

Just now one of the switch in the "electric box" tripped, caused my primary computer, which I call Vikings went off for good. TV and radio affected as well.

Upon fixing the switch, I noticed that I can no longer boot up the computer. Sad news, I think it's power supply issue again. :(

Weird eh, because just now my computer just running Google Earth, which I did not run it for quite awhile already. I was checking for some places and then suddenly it struck just like that.

For now I'll stick with this, then again, an unstable backup computer. The other laptop is still making a fuss while I try to reinstall the Windows. Sigh...

Tomorrow going to send the CPU to check again, likely will change the power supply again!

I think now I've more reason to ask for a new laptop from parents, heh. :)

My life without computer = suffer. lol

P/S: Luckily I finished the previous "masterpiece" post before all hell break lose!

Civil Unrest

Be warn, long post ahead, read at your own interest.
I know things happened sometime ago, but today I only got the inspiration to write about this.
While the election is getting closer and closer, more and more conflicts submerge between the government and the people. Recently Malaysia had been on the international news because of rallies and demonstrations happening in our country.

This country used to be a peaceful place for everyone, but what causes the people go on the streets protest or voice out their opinions?

In case you dont know what's going on here. Lately there are 2 demonstrations being carried out in the capital city Kuala Lumpur:

#1
BERSIH - Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (10 Nov 2007)

The first is the tens thousands of people in yellow march from various landmarks in the city towards the National Palace (you know who lives here dont you?).
Their purpose of this march, is to handle a memorandum to the King to call for a fair-play in next year's general election.

So why the gov oppress this movement aggressively? It's because the political background of this movement. You see, this BERSIH is organised by the main opposition parties, namely PAS (Pro-Islam party, hails from the East Coast), Keadilan (planning to take over UMNO's position one day), and also DAP (I think the most outspoken opposition). Also not to mention quite a numbers of non-government organisations joined BERSIH as well.

When an election will be held around the corner, any sensitive political issues will stir up the media, pressing more pressure on the the governing party to deal with it. Of course, most public medias in this country are being monitored or controlled by the governing party, so they can easily censor any news they think disadvantage to them.

The peoples are getting smarter, many of 'em turn up on the Internet to spread the news around through news portals or blogs, it's really effective. Youtube have lots of videos on the incident too.
Hoho, there's no way the gov can censor all the contents, unless they do it the China way.

I think I don't need to elaborate further bout the 10 Nov 2007 rally here as much of the info can be read here. Anyway, the Information Minister Zainuddin Maidin aka ZAM embarrasses himself during an interview with Al-Jaz journalist regarding this issue. You can watch the interview video here.

#2 HINDRAF - Rally of Indian rights (25 Nov 2007)

It happened just today, 2 weeks after the BERSIH rally. Affected areas are Jln Ampang, Jln Tun Razak, around KLCC that area. The British High Commission is involved as well.

This time is not really a political rally, but it's a racial march. Our Indian friends have spoken bout their disappointment and lost of patience after tolerating unjust treatments for decades, possible centuries.

So what'sup with British High Comm? HINDRAF (Hindu Rights Action Force), wanted to hand over a petition to Queen Elizabeth II seeking for better treatment and rights for fellow Malaysian Indians.
They filed a lawsuit on the British government, seeking for a USD 1 trillion compensation for every Indian in the country. Looking at the scale of this lawsuit, it's almost certain that it won't work. HINDRAF leaders knew this won't work after all, but their main purpose is to evoke public awareness of fellow Indians' exploitations for all the years.

I must say, the Indian friends remained silence most of the time when something happen, whereas Chinese will stand out and speak about our rights if the other group challenge us. I not saying Indians are weak or what, but different people do things differently, that's a simple fact isn't it?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My words:
These movements made the headline on mainstream medias quite awhile because there's no such kind of big scale illegal rally since Reformasi 1998.
When something big like this happens, there must be something to do with the political agendas and so. In easier term, people go on the street protest because they're not happy with something. If not, I dont think Malaysians will likely go on the streets in such fashion while they can enjoy a good weekend with family, friends or by themselves.
Looking at the figures of attendance, one might thought that these are all political zealots. Well, part of them is true, but others are ordinary civilians who're not happy with the system.
So called 'peaceful rally', eventually will turn up to become violent conflicts, as expected. The police force, I think they're pretty much helpless there. They just do things according to what the heads told, and they must obey the orders. It's quite sad to see people turn out on each others while everyone are equal.
One thing we people dislike is the way the gov heads settle things. It's easier to be said than done, they're very good in making excuses but their mentality is immature. Sometimes we see high ranking officials made themselves a fool while replying media's question.
Not many high ranking officials have the correct mindset to do the correct decision, only a handful of them unfortunately. Basically they remain quiet most of the time, because all the spotlight attention are taken over by those fame-seekers low-class officials.
These problems are just a fraction of Malaysians' agony, there is still reasons why people dislike the current gov. Say, price hike for many daily products: oil, flour, rice, sugar etc.
The gov keep taking international oil price hike as a reason to push the price higher and higher, saying that the gov have to spend more money to subsidise additional expenses.
The gov isn't short of cash, but they spend it on the wrong side. The gov is a poor idealist, spending the money on things that either dont work well or only a party is benefit from it. Bias is existence in the gov's policy, that's a very obvious weakness of the gov. They're favouring a group of people while ignoring other peoples (Chinese & Indians, as well as other minorities). It's been a routine for us to adapt this such kind of unfair environment, but they just taken for granted, making things worse for everyone.
2008 general election, it's cursed that UMNO will not score as well as 2004's general election. Even if they won the next term in the office, I doubt they'll win again in the coming 201X general election.
I'm having the idea that something BIG might happen in few years time which will greatly affect the entire Malaysia, something to do with politics again. Sometimes, my prediction can be pretty accurate. :P
We'll see what will happen in years to come eh.
I might write something bout this again if I have the inspiration, the instinct to write a youngster's view on Malaysia.
Maksim's 5th album PURE!
I compile this post from other posts so that everything about Maksim's 5th album will be focused in this single post. :)
Album pic:
The album will be called PURE, indicating this album is pure piano pieces. :)
I've been waiting for Maksim's new album news and I'm glad to know that he's recording his new album now in London!
So far no news bout the album's title. One interesting note is that in this new album Maksim played all the track without any additional instruments, all by piano solo!
The new album will features quite a number of works by Tonci Huljic, the prime composer for Maksim's pieces.
So far only 2 tracks are listed, that is Love Storm & Posejdon's Tales.
This is all I can get for now, no soundclip previews, as it's still yet to be recorded!
Source: MaksimMrvica.com
[UPDATE #1]:
Just when I said I couldn't find any clue for Maksim's new album, I found this nice soundclip from Tonci Huljic's website.
For your information, Tonci is the primary composer for Maksim's music.
There's 5 tracks mixed in this soundclip. All these tracks are of course, composed by Tonci Huljic himself.
#1 Croatian Rhapsody (The Piano Player)
#2 "new track from new album"
#3 "new track from new album"
#4 Cubana Cubana (The Piano Player)
#5 Child in Paradise (Electrik)
1st track, Croatian Rhapsody features a very different approach from the original pieces which accompanied by percussion & strings. It started slowly, and then suddenly came into life with a very strong emotion within the song. You may compare the original version, listen to the original here.
2nd track, I think maybe this is the piece "Love Storm" from the new album? It sounds serene and sweet, possible a love serenade.
3rd track, it sounds more aggressive and fast-paced. I guess this is the "Posejdon's Tales" track from new album.
4th track, good old Cubana Cubana from the 1st album. The intro started differently, but sounds nice. The rhythm is pretty much the same compared to the earlier version.
Original version preview can be listened here.
5th track, Child in Paradise from the 4th album. It used to be a piece focusing on the piano treble, with percussions and other instruments backup the bass part. In this new version the piano took over the bass part as well, I think overshadowed the treble part as the bass is too strong. Still, a wonderful piece, one of my favourite track from that album.
Original version can be listened here.
Noticed all these tracks are played in piano only? This is one of the feature in this upcoming album!
[UPDATE #2]
Official tracklisting!
01. Dies Irae
02. Hall Of The Mountain King
03. Exodus
04. Croatian Rhapsody
05. Passionata
06. Somewhere In Time
07. Yellow River
08. Cubana
09. Claudine
10. New World Concerto
11. Poseidon’s Tale
12. Child In Paradise
13. Flight Of The Bumble-bee
Of 13 songs listed in the new album, 9 songs are repeated from the previous albums, interesting enough. Dont be too disappointed yet, these tracks are completely different than the previous records as these are pure piano pieces! Earlier versions are piano accompanied by other instruments like drums, strings, percussions etc.
I saw the track "Love Storm" went missing on the list, possible the name has changed to Passionata (which I think means Passionate)?
Yellow River should be indicating the Huang He in China, I'd like to hear this track.
Poseidon's Tale, I think it can be heard part of it in the music clip preview above. The 3rd track I suppose, but I'm not 100% sure.
As for the first track Dies Irae, I made a rough guess it might be the previously unreleased track called Requiem from the DVD "The Essential Maksim". A track written by WA Mozart btw. Anyhow it's just my speculation.
Dating Rules - Guys
1. Make sure you are the one to ask a girl out first.
2. If she says no - please make sure you accept it gracefully. Don't give up - try again.
3. If she says yes - make sure you have a plan - inform her where you wish to take her, what you plan to do and have the time and place sorted.
4. It is always better if you offer to pick her up. If you cannot - then plan to meet her at a place most convenient to her.
5. If it is a first date - get her flowers and a small gift to remember the night. Avoid rings, chains, or any of that sort until you know her taste.
6. When you pick her up and if you're driving - remember to look at her and smile as she walks towards the car. If you are waiting somewhere - smile as soon as you see her. (The control macho - head nodding crap looks stupid when it is without a smile.) - also if you can't smile - you shouldn't be dating at all.
(Then compliment her outfit - even if it is horrendous)
7. If you are not comfortable with conversation - go for an activity based outing. If you like to talk - take her for dinner. If you are only going to talk about yourself - take a full length mirror for dinner - place it on the chair in the restaurant - and talk to yourself!
8. Please be on time. It is better to be early and waiting than to keep a lady waiting. Men who keep women waiting - are assholes!! A girl who loves herself and has any form of self respect will not give you another chance - so do not blow it.
9. First dates are supposed to be superficial and funny. Just be yourself - your true self is naturally funny. DO not talk about anything serious. Do not make plans for the future. Do not ask any private questions. Do not reveal any private details about your life - like how many girls you cheated on and so on. Do not become sad and melancholy - "my mama died when i was five - ever since i was 6 i had to wash dishes to sustain my 11 brothers and 8 sisters...." DO not lay that on her on the first date.
10. Always offer to send her home and tell her that you will call her - only if you have plans to do so. Do not say - i will call you.... and then don't. If you are not sure - just say you had a good time. Then once you are sure - call her for another date. If she does not fit your ideal..... just let it be.... she will soon get the hint.
(This is all for now - I prepared this upon request from my students - who wanted to know - how to be a gentleman.)
Refresh
Tomorrow I'll turn from a student to become a part-timer again. Work is still the same as last time, notes-making. No increase for me this time, as I thought that I shall deserve a pay raise if the boss is satisfied with my job performance, else, I won't ask for it.
I need something to refresh myself to prepare for tomorrow's work. Physically I'm ready to go, but mentally I need something to stimulate the enthusiasm for working.
As usual I look around the Net, and it happens that today Yanni.com is having new update, featuring more about his new music, which I believe will be released in 2008, hopefully.
Now that Yanni had taken approach of bringing in vocals into his music, and this update's video shows that those vocalists are actually very good! I shall withdraw my earlier comment saying losing interest in the vocals.
The tenor, Nathan, sang the piece "Adagio" very, very well!! At first I thought one of the Il Divos actually joined Yanni's team! Nathan's voice enhanced the piece "Adagio" into an almost perfect piece!
The second singer introduced in this update is Leslie, a soft-spoken lady with beautiful voice. Stunning orchestral work plus angel-like singing, you can imagine that will'ya?
For this update, you can watch the video on Yanni.com.
Next update is scheduled 2 weeks to go, which is 4th Dec. Looking forward for that soon. :)
Hope I can see "Nightingale" in this new project. Of course, I still prefer instrumental and orchestral piece, but if Yanni decided to put in voices into "Nightingale", please make it a Chinese!! :D
P/S: Hello to fellow YST if you're stopping by. :)
Business Opportunity?
I just came back from a session of talk with an old friend Andrew, along with his business partner William.
The story started few weeks ago when I received a call from Andrew telling me wanna meet up with me to talk about business. He said, side-income eh, not a full-time job.
So today his business partner William talk with me for awhile before starting the presentation. After asking me bout some financial questions, he unveiled the business plan, Amway.
He said that upon working for them for few months, we'll generate the income of RM 5k/month, a large sum eh? Possibly earning, say RM 20k/month, if it's a long-term partnership. He said this is just a side-income, somewhat a part-time job, yet you earn equivalent to an assistant manager out there in the market.
I think he's trying to brainwash me with a large amount of money here, still I continue the presentation with him.
He offered me another round of more in-depth talk about this business opportunity this Wednesday evening, which I've verbally agreed to attend. Also, prepare RM 85 for a business starter kit?
Before I left the session, some friends, namely Aina, Jun How and Eric join in. Apparently Eric introduced both of them to join in. They're trying to get more friends of us to join in eh?
Well, personally I felt that myself isn't that multi-level marketing (MLM) type of person. The way they do things, I'm doubtful. Sure, I've heard their product quality is good, but of course good things doesn't come cheaply isnt it?
I am still yet to decide to join them, because in my opinion it doesn't suit my style, my interest. Did I mention before that I don't really like to get involve into business directly? I prefer do it indirectly, like blogging here. I've heard of MLM scams, and it is important that I dont fall for their trap, if it's a fishy trap after all. For now I can see that they're trying hard to persuade people to join them, mainly youngsters at my age.
I'm still too early to make a decision here. I'll join their "lecture" session next Wed to understand how they function and to look out whether it's a scam or a real business after all. Besides, I'm not alone too, I think I'll meet many friends there on that Wed session.
End of Semester 1
Today finished last 2 papers, Chemistry and Applied Maths.
Chemistry is tricky, but I've manged to finish all, although I'm uncertain of some answers. I just hope I didnt do that badly compare to Test II.
Applied Maths, I need to score well in this paper so I can survive the whole Maths paper, after having a tough time deal with Pure Maths on Monday. To my luck, I managed to do 6 out of the 7 questions. Too bad there's one 6 points question I left blank because I've no idea what to do. Screw you again Mr Yap!
Before we left the examination hall, Mr Yap inform us bout our holiday assignment, duh! To my relief, it's just like an online maths quiz, so called "Spice Up Your Brain". My brain wont be resting this holiday, as I've to settle quite a number of things you see.
Talk about lecturers, it's sad that some lecturers will be leaving TARC next year.
Ms Chong (Bio lecture) will definitely unavailable due to her maternity leave.
Ms How (Bio practical) will be further her study in Ph.D field(!).
Ms Marilyn (General Paper) will resign from current post, so we have to find a replacement for GP again. Kalaimathy again? Oh no....
Mr Yap (Applied Maths) hinted he might quit? But I think he's just joking, as usual. If not, why he'd gave us holiday assignment?
I wonder who'll take over our Bio lecture next year? Ms How suppose to be Ms Chong's replacement but now she's gone too, so we're short of Bio lecturers by then. Mr Low still can handle a few Bio practical classes, but lecture? I doubt so.
This holiday I think I'm gonna revise the AS syllabus, for the sake of next March's AS exam.
Happy holiday to all my friends, see you again next year!
Adidas launched this series with 3 colours:
Black/red/white TRX Hard Ground
White/black XTRX Soft Ground
Navy Blue/Gold "David Beckham" TRX Firm Ground
If you're observant enough, DB's boots still using synthetic leather(glossy) instead of conventional k-leather, which the black/red & white/black used.
This boots definitely looks better than my first impression on the boots. Looking forward for other Adidas releases, namely the TUNiT F50.8 & Adipure.
Test III day 1 & 2
Day 1
#1: General Paper
100% = 50% comprehension & vocabulary + 50% essay.
First part, which is the comprehension & vocabs, is easier than I thought, thanks to Ms Lynn's 'torture'.
Second part, the essay. I chose to write the benefits of universal language, which I think I wrote pretty nice, though I might crapped or repeat some points continuously. Well, it's up to the teacher's decision for the grading.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

#2: Pure Maths

5 long questions. Compare to normal tutorial papers, the test looks tame to me. But... time is the limiting factor, as I couldn't finish all the questions in time. Blow it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
#3 Biology
One of my favourite subject. I have no problem answering most of the questions, though I'm cautious how the teacher will mark my paper.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Day 2

#4 Physics

Another surprise of the day, this paper is easier than usual tutorials! Anyway, I did not manage to finish it again, sigh. I've done my best, so it's up to the teacher now to determine the grading.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2 more papers on Friday, which is Chemistry and Applied Maths. After that, can enjoy as much as I want. :)
Preview of Adidas Predator Power Swerve
I just got the latest news moments ago, but it is too late to write bout it now.
Anyhow I'll throw in few teaser pics before I write the proper post tomorrow or other days.
Windows Live Writer
Now now, I just discovered this pretty cool stuff from Microsoft, a blogging client!
I've been tempted to try it out, so I went to Windows Live site there to find out bout it. The requirements are significantly low for today's computers, even this 5 years old computer able to run it steadily! (I said this based on my com's requirement).
A very unfortunate for me is that in order to enjoy this service, you'll have to download a Windows Update, which, *ahem*, I cant be able to do so due to WGA issue.
So if you're running on legit Windows, feel free to try it out! It's no harm! The setup file is just merely 2.5MB.... More info can be found here too.
My Day
Today's Deepavali, wishes all Indian friends out there a very happy celebration with family!
One day holiday, suppose to stay at home revise for next week's exam.
Well, no one's at home except myself. Parents are away again for days, so I have to settle meals and stuffs all by myself.
Lunchtime, went to Carrefour do some shopping and get my lunch. I settled my lunch for a set menu at the Chicken Rice Shop. Mmm.... it taste good actually! Serving portion is just nice, the chicken taste good, overall it's a good meal for me. The only drawback is they dont serve "siu yok" (BBQ pork) because it's a halal restaurant, heh.
My last headphone is been dangling and the sound quality is getting from bad to worse. It is the time to replace it.
In the end I ended up with this Philips SHM 3300 headphone, which killed RM 60 cash.
So far I've been satisfied with the quality, but it is still not as good as the headphone used in the college's CIT lab. I know that kind of headphone will cost more....
Now, I'm preparing my dinner. I wanted to get my dinner outside, but it's raining so it killed my mood to go out again, so I settle my dinner at home.
I just realised that parents had shipped the last packet of the instant noodles to China for my sisters..... sweat. (-__-")
3rd Year
I've spent quite a number of time on writing and reading blogs.... and I dont have any intention of holding back!
Things seems to be improving bits by bits, which I think compare to last year, this blog seems to be more lively.
Through out this year, life for me is pretty much changed since then.
1 year ago I was preparing for the final examination of high school, and today I am preparing the last test for this semester in college.
I have decided to split the blog's content into other blogs in few weeks time. I will not move the original posts here to the new blogs, I just simply create new blogs and write things accordingly to the main idea of the story.
I call this plan
PROJECT FISSION
I will need time to sort things out, especially the layout designs. I think I'll make a lot of changes to the blog designs, including this one.
So far I've sorted out the blog types I'm gonna make soon.
Fevernova Mania, will be the place where footballers and soccer fans will head to. The blog talks about football news, boots and balls.
A musical blog, which I've yet to name it. I think I'll go for title like "Rhapsody in [insert color]", depends what kind of colour scheme I'll choose for the blog. I dont think it will be in blue colour though.
曲之人生~ Life of Tunes.
I
n this blog I'll write things solely in Chinese Mandarin. (currently half-completed)
So these are my plans for the upcoming holiday. Trying to utilise free services to rack up some serious cash, heh.
Back to the anniversary, the blog's anniversary seems like my 2nd birthday. One in March, and one in November. :)
'til then, I'll compare what I've been through for the year til 4th anniversary. I doubt I will have time to write so casually next year because I will be seating for A2 exam next Nov.
That's it for the entry of the 3rd of in blogging business.
Adidas, Nike & Puma football boots 2008
Pics of upcoming football boots for 2008 from the top 3 football boots brand.
(click for larger pics)
Nike
The Tiempo Air Legend series.
First boot is Ronaldinho's new R10 series. Not much difference from current design, except the swoosh is now in blue instead of gold/white.
The other two boots are the new Air Legend II.
Nothing much to say bout these for now.
(Extra note: R10 boots is FG stud config, while the Legend IIs are in SG stud config. Take note of the studs in the pic.)
Mercurial Vapor IV series.
This is the different boots than the Mercurial SL.
From the pic I can guess that the Vapor IV is build from synthetic leather instead of k-leather.
Also, the boots in the middle is the Total 90 Laser series. Not much difference from what I observed.
I think Nike has finally replaced the Air Zoom Total 90 Supremacy with the Lasers.
Adidas & Puma
The German bootmakers.
Top range shows Adidas' latest Predator Power Swerve in silver, white & black.
Second column displays Puma's new boots. The 2nd boot from left seems to be something fresh. It is the V1.08 that will replace the V1.06 series.
Bottom range showcasing Adipure in white & black. It will replace the current 7406 series, which build from calf leather instead of k-leather.
In the middle is the latest +F50.8 TUNiT. Looks like it's been refined from the previous designs, which looks good in the pic.
