SPM 2006 Results

The SPM 2006 result will be released on the
12th of March 2007!

Make sure you went back to your school and take the certificate, also held a mini gathering with friends!

UPDATE:
Students can collect their SPM result at their school starting from 10am. :)

Family Computer

Yesterday parents and CLH send CLY to KLIA, well CLY's going back to Beijing to continue her work. CLH will be going back as well this weekend.

CLH got her new Dell laptop, so I temporarily own her old Twinhead laptop. Now I gain control of both computers!
Tried her new Dell with Vista Home Premium, slow reaction, complicated interface, need some time to get use to it. :\

I dunno what can I do with the laptop, sure it sounds fun to have a laptop! Because of it's battery issue, this laptop can only run with AC adapter connected, sort of limited mobility.

As I said, perhaps I could get my own laptop sometime near the end of the year? Hah I dunno, we'll see....

8th day of CNY

Today is a busy day for the family. We've tight schedule over the entire day.

Had lunch at a family friend's house, around 12pm. Ate 'ying-yang' steamboat, 1 part for the original herbal soup and the other one for hot + spicy soup. Most of us prefer the hot spicy soup though. Another record-breaking streak for me, ate 3 chicken drumsticks after I've stuffed myself with lots of steamboats. Hahah nevermind bout it, I need the food and energy for the other event.

Bout an hour travel through KESAS highway, we finally arrived at the Jenjarom FGS Dong Zen Temple(东禅寺). It was a great experience to be there. Great sceneries, nice environment & I've learnt something from this trip. We stay at the temple for half a day.
The vegetarian dinner is probably one of the best vegetarian food I ever had!
Hahah, I'm looking forward to come back to the temple again! Gotta thanks all the FGS volunteers for guiding us for the tour!!

Later at night, went to father friend's house at Putrajaya. They serve fantastic food there, really nice. Mmm... sashimi, oyster, roast pork etc.... my favourite dishes, heh. 2nd round dinner, yeah!
At mid-night, they started to offer prayer for the Sky God(not sure is this the correct description, in chinese is 拜天公, a tradition followed closely by Hokkien Chinese).
Firecrackers ignited to disturb the quiet and peaceful environment around the residential area. Nevermind, once in a year would be no harm hahaha.
I drools for the Mercedes S 350, car-plated Putrajaya 18 parked in the garage, heh.

It's a meaningful day for me, really. We rarely have family outing like this for a long time. Anyhow, I just hope that the 2 cats risking their life on the road manage to survive, even though one of them maybe is sleeping forever on the road. RIP....

Back in KL!

Picture 077 (Large)

I've spend 3 fantastic days in Kedah. This year's CNY trip is worthwhile, because we've been to somewhere we havent went many years ago, and also experience new places.

Mmm.... lots of nice food, games and entertainments. Yeah, this is the spirit of CNY!

While in Kedah, we went to 2 temples to offer prayers on the 2nd day of CNY. We havent went to the temple for so many years because we usually only start travel to Kedah on the 2nd day of CNY. This time we've manage to join in other relatives to go there.

2nd day of CNY evening, had a family gathering at my grandparent's house. The old house comes back to life every CNY when everyone from the family came back, bringing the atmosphere of CNY celebration. And yea, firecrackers are setting off in the quiet small town, the essential CNY entertainment.

Before we return to KL, went to visit longan farm, owned by father's friend. Great place with delicious fruits. There's a cottage there and maybe next year we might stay in there, who knows? Heh.

The journey back to KL was a disastrous one. Stuck in some terrible traffic jams, making everyone in the car frustrated. Tried alternative route but it's still crowded too. In the end we traveled 7 hours to get back from Kedah to KL. Not a pleasant journey.

There's still some time before CNY ends on next Sunday. I might want to collect somemore angpow moneys to fill up my savings. :D

Chinese New Year 2007

This year's CNY is kinda strange because of the weather. Normally during CNY it will be very hot, but here in KL it rains everyday.... wash away the CNY hot waves. Of course it's good to have a cooler CNY, but please dont rain when we're celebrating CNY outdoor!!

Anyway, tomorrow morning will be going back to Kedah. Will be staying there 3 days 2 nights. Tuesday I'll be back, hoepfully. I will continue my work on Thursday though.

National Service Update

Just checked the NS website. I'm dispatched to Kem Wawasan Kampung Ovai, Papar, somewhere at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Going Sabah isnt that bad because I've relative living there. Not a big problem I guess? Haha.... I will be missing from the world from 18th of March to sometime in June. Hmm.....

Welcome back to Paradise!

A message for my friends and those who're just coming back from the National Service camp today, welcome back to PARADISE!!

Hey hey, come back liao must remember contact me!! I want to listen to those stories you guys have experienced so far! At least, give me some sort of early warning first. :P

Confusing problem

Yeah, back in blogging business with my Vikings computer. Now I finally realised the culprit behind all these troubles.
Graphic card is still usable, tho the fan isnt moving; RAM is still going strong after 5 years; motherboard and processor is still in good condition. The end? It's the DELL LCD monitor's fault.

The technician claimed that he've tested my CPU on 3 monitors and all working well. When I took my LCD monitor to the shop, horizontal and vertical lines mess up the display. Great, now I've pinpoint the faulty hardware that made me so tension these few days.

CLY called DELL service center. They say replacement will be send next week, well hopefully it works well too.

I did not expect this half year old hardware is the problem, the youngest hardware in my workstation. Luckily I still have guarantee for the Dell LCD, and thankfully I havent dump my old Samsung CRT monitor LOL!! Now using the original monitor that comes with the PC set.

Yea my computer is aging, it's been 5 years alrdy and many parts are still going strong, though there's some minor problems bugging me sometimes. Hmm.... it wont be long before I'll decide to get a new computer. Well hopefully, the new com comes with Windows Vista Home PREMIUM!

15 February 2007

RAM replacement

Once again I'm blogging from the substitute computer. Tomorrow gonna send Vikings to the shop to fix the RAM problem. I might change a RAM then. I still stick with 256MB first, unless 512MB RAM are having offer.

Well I hope Vikings can recover from the "illness" soon, I got something I need to do before CNY leh.... all the music files inside there....

12 February 2007

False Alarm!

Took Vikings to local computer shop to do a diagnosis.

The technician acknowledge the problem I'm facing, so he tried to boot up the computer. First try did not work. The next step he took out the RAM and place it in another slot, reboot. It works.

It's just a simple trick and yet it works. The guy told me the RAM's faulty, and my graphic card is still working though.

It's a relief for me, I do not need to spend any money to fix this up!! :D

Yeah, hopefully this com can stay on like this til I get a replacement someday.....

SPM result's releasing date?

I've heard 2 rumours bout the result-announcing date for the SPM exam which I took last year.

1st rumour from ChinWei: 12 March 07.
2nd rumour from Adelaide CSW: 28 Feb 07.

My guess: sometime when 1st batch of NS trainees return and sometime before 2nd batch(my turn) NS trainees report duty to the camps. If that's it, then it'll be sometime around 12 March til 16 March.

Last year if not mistaken 2nd batch NS trainees got their results few days after joining the camp. I think it'll be better if everyone can get the results at their own school, be together again with all those friends to share the feelings of getting the result.

When it comes to the result, I got the feeling that somehow I might strike at least, 10 As out of 12 subjects I took. And hopefully, my dream of the SPM result last time will be a false alarm.
All 3 language subjects get As, I surprisingly get an A for Moral and both my Maths scores B.
I hope this cant be truth huh.... hahah

Strange sense

Hmm.... just recently I found out that, 3 of us(siblings) are facing some sort of electronic problems. I think this is sort of unusual because all of our problem occur almost at the same time.

CLH's Motorola phone went mute, she couldnt listen to the other person while receiving/dialing calls. She's been using the phone for 3 years alrdy, can be considered antique in the world of mobile phones. Although the other functions like sms are still working, but what's the point you keep using a phone that could not talk to the other person?
Her laptop also have been an issue since last year, she wanted to change to a new laptop.

CLY's phone is also dead, well almost. Battery problem is a very common disease to kill a phone, moreover it's a China phone. I think she used the phone bout 1 year plus? I not so sure since she got it for free. Still, she needs a new phone badly.

CLF, me faces a bigger issue I think. Main computer down, with more than 1 complications. Although I mentioned the graphic card issue just now, but the DVD combo drive and the mouse are not functioning well. Other than the mouse, the other 2 hardwares have been serving me for quite some time, almost obsolete alrdy....

As you can see, the main factor all of our electronic gears are dying is because of their age. One should consider lucky to have a phone still functioning well for more than 3 years, and having a computer without too many hardware malfunctions through the period of 5 years also consider long life. I know that sooner or later we're gonna change all these gears, but I do not expect all of them 'die' at the same time!

Now that it's close to CNY, just 1 week away from the celebration, yet we're spending more money than usual to replace our old stuffs with the new ones. Some people change their stuffs annually, but for us we've learnt from our parents to maintain a stuff as long as we can, so we do not need to change all those gears frequently.

Now I'm considering replacing my graphic card for Vikings(main com), maybe add in some RAMs if it's affordable, and yeah maybe kick in somemore harddisk space.
Luckily my Pentium 4 processor is still working well, no complains from this 'heart' of the computer so far, well I really want this 'heart' can last til I can get a new computer. Oh and also, I want to backup all the important files in the main computer before anything goes wrong. At this stage I could not afford to lose all those datas. Else, I'm doomed!

I just learn something bout positive thinking. The more you think something good, the more positive things that will come to you. Well now I'm thinking of tomorrow I'm gonna replace the faulty graphic card and yeah, hopefully tomorrow evening I can back online with that main computer! :D

Lots of Stories

Sorry for lack of update, I wasnt free to write much things this few days. Well this weekend lots of stuffs happened, some makes me laugh and some upsets me.

Friday, went to hospital early in the morning to do an X-ray scan on my jaw part. The dentist asked me to redo the scan because she said something's going wrong with my teeth that makes me couldnt take off the braces so soon, yet. The scan only lasted for 1 min, no big deal.

Afternoon went for a tour visit to the International Islamic University(UIA), guided by my aunt who's currently studying there. That university is surprising better than I expected when I went there for school's sports day years ago.

Saturday evening went up to Genting with family to watch Sir Cliff Richard's concert. Hard to believe that guy is 68 years old!! He still have the stamina of a 30+ young lad. So many luxurious cars turn out that night, the new Mercz S class, BMW 7 series.... etc. O_O

Later on that night after the show whole family went to karaoke to mess around til 2am. The karaoke is great!

Sunday morning came back and have lunch with relatives, the bak kut teh taste good, although there's too many people feasting on the meal.

Went back home to relax abit. Tried to start off the com Vikings but the graphic card issue mess up the whole screen. I dont think is the monitor's fault because it's still a fresh hardware. Open up the whole CPU casing and checked the graphic card.
I'm noob in hardware issues so I really have no idea what's the problem and how to fix it. After some brief cleanup on the hardware, I tried to reboot the computer and apparently the graphic card refuse to work.
Oh well, I've been using this card since Aug 2002, consider a good bargain after serving me for so many years. Sis suggested I replace the graphic card, add in RAM and then upgrade HDD space. Of course this project will consume lots of money, so I guess I'll replace it back by working harder and also annual earnings from CNY angpaos.

Sigh.... now I only can do things on this temporary substitute computer. Well it's better than nothing though, I'm glad that this substitute computer finally can get into action when the main com is dead, temporarily. I might consider getting a new computer, perhaps a notebook from Dell. No matter what, I think I will only think seriously about it after my NS.

Tomorrow gonna send the Vikings to computer shop, really have no idea how to fix it. Well hopefully, I can return to my normal computer life after replacing the aging graphic card.

Hardware Issues

CLY finally solved the iPod nano misery. The solution? She plug into iTunes from her computer and then the iPod starts syncing! Things wouldnt go that well on my com, my problem is that I cant transfer songs from com to the iPod.
Since my computer is basically useless with iPod, so she'll be the new owner of the little gadget. I heard that her com was mess up by the iTunes though....

Today played computer as usual, noticed that the graphics displaying on the monitor are mess up when I play MapleStory and FIFA 2k5. I think there's something wrong with the graphic display since the LCD monitor works smoothly as usual and it's pretty new to be spoil in this way. Now downloading new driver for the old Nvidia drive.
Hmm..... the graphic card is one of the original hardware that still remain intact with the CPU since I got the computer in 2002, if the hardware in the computer continues to age, I guess I might make a switch? A brand new com loaded with genuine Windows Vista, hahaha.....

Tactical Football

It's time I come and think about my game. Yea I'm a die-hard fan of football, I love to watch and play the game. Though I'm considered as an amateur player, well I still have lots of room of improvement.

Last week I played a friendly game with local Malays to train their U12 players, and of course there's adult players who join in to heat up the game. I played as center forward that day, I'm still trying to improve my ability to master that position.

After that day's game, I've been analyzing my traits and skills playing the game. Here's some of my thoughts on my own game....

  • I should train harder on basic ball control and dribbling skills. One of my weakness during the game is that I tend to pass the ball to others instead of bringing the ball into the attacking position myself. I need to learn how to break-through defences, trick the opponents and then score in style~ :D

  • My right foot is my primary weapon, well I could develop my left foot into another lethal weapon as well. I've noticed that sometimes if I shoot with left foot I might score a surprise goal. I usually use left foot to pass but I rarely use it for long range shoot. I guess that's why I've problem to play down the left flank.
How can I improve my left foot? I think first I'll start with basic ball controls by volleying the ball, then later maybe try to play some passes with friends. Well, it'll be sometime from now before I can make full use of my both feet on the field.

  • I need to head the ball precisely. Heading the ball isnt a big problem, but it's crucial when I need to score from a header. I think my height is OK to head, just that I need to learn some more detailed skills to ensure that my header goes where I want it to be. Maybe someday I might try diving header....

  • Goalkeeping is been one of my natural talent when it comes to the game. Recently I've been playing as normal player more than goalkeeper, but I'm still quite sharp when handling the goal. If I can master how to make a diving save, I guess I can be a formidable keeper, mwahahaha!!

  • Pace and stamina, I might be able to sprint for a short distance, but I cant hold my breath if I'm running for a longer distance. I'm the kind of player that I'll rush to the ball and would be easily wore off by the opponent. So to maintain a stable pace and stamina is vital for my game.

  • I love to tackle the opponent, that's what I do few years back. Now I do not tackle the opponent that often, and less slide tackle nowdays as I think that trick can hurt both myself and the other player. I think I will only tackle a player when we're in dangerous situation.

That's what I can think of now, might update something more interesting bout my game when I have the time. Ciaoz.

    Sisters at home

Few weeks ago fetch CLH back, and yesterday fetch CLY back from the airport. They're going to stay here til end of Feb. For the time being I'll be busying dealing with some real life situation instead of spending most of my time infront of the computer.

Hmm.... I just hope that CLY can help me solve the iPod nano issue.

    Photos taken from Australia

I've more than 100 photos uploaded to my Flickr page. It's too much photos and I doubt it's suitable to post those pics here.

So I've made this set (http://www.flickr.com/photos/clf/sets/72157594510426040/) on my Flickr with all those pics from the trip, if you're interested feel free to browse the photo gallery. :)

    Screw up iPod!!

Not much posting these few days, why? Continue reading below....

It's been days I've tried to figure out how to transfer songs from computer to iPod. I'm having a tough time to deal with it with iTunes, Apple's official software to sync songs to iPod. Now that iTunes doesnt update my iPod(which means doesnt transfer songs from com to iPod), and then later on screw up this nano gadget.

I've tried to look out for the solution on the Apple forum and Google, well I've basically tried most of the steps but in the end none of them work. I guess during the progress I've corrupted the iPod as well, but darn it iTunes couldnt restore the iPod back to it's factory default settings!! I really fed up with iTunes, and I doubt I will ever touch it until it's updated to fix that bug.

While I went through the forums, I noticed that most users are having a tough time dealing with iTunes even if they're using other iPods as well(iPod video, iPod shuffle etc). There must be a big loop hole lying withing the Apple's software itself.

So today I've tried two 3rd party softwares trying to sync songs to iPod, well both failed, saying that my iPod is corrupted. Arghh!!

Now what to do? I've spent days to figure out how to solve this problem and yet it's still bugging me so much. I just hope that when CLY come back this weekend, she could help me solve the problem.

SCREW YOU APPLE! You've disappointed me!! iPod cant load song = USELESS!
